Used in bakeries, restaurants, caterers, schools, hospitals, and other commercial kitchens
This depends on the item and how much oil/grease/carbon is on it, but generally between 20 minutes and 24 hours. Heavily carbonized or greased-up items will initially require a longer soak time. Items should be removed, thoroughly rinsed and put back in the Spectank® if required. Your kitchen will become progressively cleaner as the Spectank® is put to work over time.
A Spectank® delivers a variety of tangible and intangible benefits. It will reduce your operating costs and improve your bottom line margin, as well as simplify and improve the cleaning of equipment and make your kitchen safer and more comfortable to work in.
Some items like grills, baking trays & pots should be done nightly, whilst others like gas rings and deep fry baskets should be done weekly. What foods are cooked and the amount of fat, grease and carbon build-up on equipment will also dictate how often things are cleaned in the Spectank®. Your Spectank consultant will help you draw up a schedule to ensure that the utensils and equipment get cleaned on a regular basis. The Spectank® system should be in constant use.
The solution in the tank, including the CARBSOLVE® will last for a month at a time. The surface may need to be “skimmed” every few weeks to remove surface fats and oils if necessary.
Yes the solution would work as normal, but care should be taken not to unplug the tank, even when not in use, as reheating the solution will take time and cost significantly more than keeping it at operating temperature.
Even at times when you have nothing in the tank, you should keep the power switched on. The tanks are insulated to minimise heat loss, and to reheat the solution to operating temperature will cost considerably more in electricity than maintaining the thermostatically controlled temperature.
Your Spectank rental contract includes any and all tank maintenance, so just contact your Spectank office and they will attend to the problem as soon as possible.
Spectank’s are available in a variety of sizes, and are designed to cleverly fit under most worktop surfaces.
CARBSOLVE®, a proprietary mix of 13 chemicals to aid in decarbonising, is diluted in water. CARBSOLVE® measures 10.7 on the pH scale and is safe to touch. It is also Food-Safe, Non-Toxic, Non-Caustic and Biodegradable.
As the Spectank® system operates at over 80°c, all harmful bacteria will die in the CARBSOLVE® solution, so all items removed from the Spectank® will be clean and sanitized.
Yes, the solution is biodegradable. There are no harmful chemicals and it is broken down into organic material.
It is not recommended to put silver, silver plate, tin plate, enamel coated pots, Teflon, silicone coated pans, wood or thin plastic items into the Spectank®.
Yes, CARBSOLVE® is tested to be non-corrosive to aluminium.
Items left in the Spectank® longer than 24 hours and cleaned too often will over time lose their coating. Items already damaged and placed in the Spectank® will react with the solution to “lift” coatings away from the metal surface.
In certain areas with hard water, the solution can react with the calcium in the water, and leave a residue on the equipment being cleaned. This residue is harmless and will easily rinse off.
We always recommend using heat resistant rubber gloves, safety goggles and an apron when loading or unloading the tank.
